"It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living."

I'm contemplating even writing this or not...but here it is. This morning while I was getting ready I heard Sunny make up a song and sing it to herself. I went into the room and grabbed a piece of paper and we wrote it down together as she sang it again. I thought it was a sweet song, I didn't think much of it for the rest of the day. It wasn't until hours later while we were out and about that I read about the heartbreaking tragedy in CT on fb while checking my phone. I kept the news to myself, as I didn't want to speak about it in front of her (she stills knows nothing about it, thankfully). I didn't link the two until this evening when I had a moment to myself. I know it's just a coincidence, an innocent little song... but I still find that I have to stop and catch my breath each time that I read it.

Here is what she sang:

little angel, little angel,
soaring through the sky
there are more angels coming
bows tied around their wings
snowflakes are falling
lights are shining on the tree
our star is shining brightly
Santa Clause is coming
it's almost Christmas morning
all the little angels,
it's time to wake up.

  1. Oh my goodness. These words are so touching, so sad and yet so beautiful when related to what has happened. I caught my breath too as I read them.
May be a coincidence, or may be she just knew....
Much love to you for sharing.x

    1. Thank you Trish. There are definitely moments spent with children that take our breath away and leave us speechless... this was one of those moments for me. xo
