Come Rain or Shine.

We headed North last weekend for a short visit with my sister. I was determined to visit the Mississippi Headwaters located in Itasca State Park, come rain or shine. The rain didn't dampen our spirits in the least, though my sister was sick and poor little S was so overtired from all the excitement of visiting her Auntie, that she was nearly falling over. Still, she insisted on crossing the Mississippi all by herself. She would not let us cross that log with her, and kept pushing us back to the shore! She is no doubt one independent little girl.

I haven't the words at the moment to ramble on about the rest of the photos here (we all came down with chest colds after our adventure, hence me not getting this post up until now.) I will say this though, there is so much left for us to explore amongst these trees and along the lake shore. This land is rich in history, something I'm aching to learn more about. There are many places to camp, and even cabins to rent within the park. I spent nearly every weekend as a child up on the North Shore with my parents and it's something that I want S to have the luxury to experience in her youth. It is a luxury isn't it, to dig our toes deep within the earth and stretch our fingers up to the treetops? A walk in the gentle rain with the birds singing their songs, and my daughter giggling by my side, is certainly worth more to me than anything money could buy.

  2. Wow. Gorgeous pictures. I agree with AnDee. You are wealthy with love and beauty. Your daughter is precious.

Also, I love your head neck thing. Is it a cowl? Did you use a pattern?

    1. Hi Hannnah. No patterns here. I'm terrible at following them! If you knit in the round than you can make a cowl like this. It's very basic. I just switched up colors every three rows. Just happens that it was long enough to toss over my head to cover it from the rain. :)

Thanks also for the sweet compliments. xo
