"It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living."

Plant a Kiss

  applying all glitter *outside*

Plant a Kiss is one of our favorite books from the library. Sadly, soon we will have to return it. It is my mom's birthday today and I know she would love this book also. I originally was thinking about getting her a copy, but then I had the idea that S and I could illustrate our own version without too much difficulty, making it so much more meaningful (don't you think?) I suppose I should have taken a few photos of the inside of the original book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds, because really all I did was to draw what was already there. Sunny did a wonderful job on her pages I think. I actually couldn't be more pleased with the way that it turned out. I believe my mom will love it and S is so excited to give it to her. She even planted a kiss (I put in a few wild flower seeds without her knowing it) and keeps asking me if I think it will really grow. I told her that as long her Oma waters it, gives it sunshine and lots of love, that it will indeed grow. Funny, when she planted her 'kiss' the poor girl got a mouthful of dirt. I assured her that she was not the first child to ever put dirt in their mouth...and we giggled with the delight of dirt kisses and a project well done. Happy Birthday to my sweet mom
and the best Oma a little one could possibly wish for.

"I have the power, the power of love!
I have the power, the power of love in me!
I have the power, the power of sunshine.
I have the power to make flowers grow!"

(I happened to hear S singing this made up song to herself from the other room and I had to smile.)
