journaling together

S and I started a journal together. I think it will be fun for her to have when she gets older. She will be able to look back on things I have written and stories she has told. Sometimes I draw and she colors it in, sometimes she draws and writes (or tries to.) My hope is to continue this idea through the years with her. I have never been very good at keeping a journal myself, so my hope is that this will inspire me also. So far we are both having so much fun with this. If there is one thing (among many) that I have learned from motherhood about myself, it is that there is no better time to create than in the moment. There was a time, before becoming a mother, that I would spend countless hours creating and making every last detail perfect. Those days have gone (for now) and it has been an amazing lesson to learn from my little one, that creativity need not be perfect, or even a smidgen close to perfect. The important thing, what will fill you up with joy, is to just do it. There is no better time to create than now.

  1. This is beyond perfection, this is HAPPINESS!!! And, how much I recognize myself in your words about the life before and after...the happiness ;) Wonderful idea about journaling. We don't do it so much, except of hollidays, but what a fun to find them after awhile!
P.S. The spirit your blog radiates is so pure, that sometimes I'm afraid to spoil it with my comments...

    1. I wish you could see the pure happiness that she has when creating in her journals! She has asked for another one already, this one is all hers and it is her "Fairy Field Journal." She picks them up throughout the day, at least a dozen times. It is the first thing she does in the morning and the last thing she does before bed. I think it is calming for her. I also think that she has a lot going on up in that little head of hers and she just needs to get it out and onto paper, which is always a good thing! :)

It is sweet what you say about my blog. I so appreciate your comments, (even if I don't respond right away:) so please don't stop!

I hope that the sunshine finds you today and shines it's light bright for you.
