The Renaissance Festival

Have any of you been to a Renaissance Festival? I'm wondering if it is something that is only here in the States. I'm not even sure if it is across all the States. It is such a wonderful festival for all ages. This is the first year that we've gone in many, many years. In the past I've been told that people can get a bit overwhelming, where it is their job to run around and heckle festival goers. I didn't encounter any of that this year, however, we did go the 2nd to last day and in the morning hours.
There is a popular fairy that is at the festival every year (she has a huge following) that we have been promising S all summer that she would get to meet. Her name is Twig the Fairy (she's playing the flute in the photo above) and she is simply adorable. My sweet friend Rachel worked at one of the booths this year and surprised S with a copy of Twigs book, so when we met Twig she got her book signed. She was in heaven that girl of ours. She met fairies, pet animals big and small (lots and lots of dogs!), and even got to go for a hike through the woods and into the Secret Garden to see all the fairy houses.
It's such an awesome time.
S hasn't stopped talking about it, and I can't seem to get enough of the pictures.
I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

The last photo I added because it struck me how similar our profiles are, mother and daughter.

  1. OH!
How awesome...Especially for the Wee one! Those costumes are marvellous.
I think we should all wear flower wreaths more often!

  2. Hello,
Found my way through 'Bluebirdbaby', and now, I'm glad I did. That's some festival, must have been an adventure for both small and not so small.
    Feel for the elephant, though.
You're right; your profiles are very much the same. Isn't that lovely to see.
    Kind regards,
    Lilli

  3. Andrea~ I admit that I have swiped the flower wreath a few times and danced around with it on. I may have even hugged a tree...shhh. ;)

Lilli~ Thank you so much for finding your way to my blog and for the thoughtful comment.
Indeed about the elephant... majestic in its beauty none the less.
